The story behind julia smith ceramics my name is julia smith and i am a ceramic maker based near inverness in scotland. Julia smith ceramics may 24 hello teapot lovers i ve just added a few new ones to my shop i am posting to uk and some european destinations at the moment will open up again worldwide soon hopefully. Everything is made in house in my studio in ardersier near inverness. I combine earthly clay with soft layered glazes and simple hand drawn illustrations.

Julia smith graduated with a ba hons in ceramics from glasgow school of art in 1996. I had worked with clay previously through ceramics education and public art commissions after graduating from glasgow school of art in 1996. Each piece is thrown and hand built with dark earthenware or speckled stoneware clay in my studio in inverness shire. I will be adding new work to the shop as it comes out of the kiln so little and often rather than a big shop update so please keep checking back to see what s new.
